Are Regular Black Women on Television?

Normally when I am at home on my day off I spend all day sleeping, cleaning, and watching movies or hanging out with the dog.  Last week I changed up my routine because of rain and I had already done all of my chores early so I cuddled up on the couch with my pooch and watched a few hours of TV.  After countless commercials and hallmark channel favorites it dawned on me that I didn't see one facee that I could openly relate to.  I saw Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson on commercials for their various endorsements and numerous commercials featuring the all too familiar group of two or three white women looking well manicured as they sipped beverages and chatted about tampons, birth control or something else for the general public to purchase or a new show for people to watch.  Even commercials aimed at children for candy, movies or cereal.  Some commercials sporting this trend would throw in a cute Asian or Latina, a handsome White guy and the occasional silly Black male but I couldn't help but notice that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find every day Black women who are not celebrities in commercials or television shows.  Where have they gone? Are Black women disappearing from the mainstream eye or are they only meant to be seen on the BET channel?
